Shortcuts are put in our operating systems like Windows or Mac to enhance and speed up our navigability rate across different platforms on the user interface. But most computer users are ignorant of most of the useful keyboard shortcuts that can be used on their operating system.

CTRL + A
|
Highlight everything in the current folder,
document, or page.
|
CTRL + C / CTRL +
INSERT
|
Copy the selected text, image, or item to the
clipboard.
|
CTRL + X
|
Cut (remove) the selected text, image, or item and
moves it to the clipboard.
|
CTRL + F
|
Accesses “Find” tool. With the Find tool you
can search a document for a keyword or phrase without having to re-read the
entire piece. This function is accessible for websites, documents,
Excel, PDFs, and various other platforms.

ALT + TAB
|
Switching between alternate windows. Have two
different programs or browser windows open? Switch between the two
flawlessly by pressing the Alt+Tab keys. Once you do so,
the alternate page will populate.

CTRL + S
|
To be clear, this is only Save, not Save As.
So it is best to save your document first and rename it what you’d
like. As you continue to make edits after you “Save As”, you can press
the Ctrl+S key to save whatever changes you’ve made.

SHIFT + DELETE
|
Delete a highlighted item (permanently) without
first moving it to the Recycle Bin.
|
WINDOWS KEY + L
|
Lock your computer screen
|
CTRL + Z
|
This undo your works to the last thing you did on
any document. More like reversing a mistake.

SHIFT + ARROWS
|
Highlighting text. As you go through your
document, you can select the text by holding down the Shift key and then
using the arrows to go up, down, left or right.

SHIFT + F7
|
Open thesaurus lookup in Microsoft Word
|
CTRL + HOME
|
Move your cursor to the beginning of a document or
page.
|
CTRL + P
|
Print current document or page.

CTRL + SHIFT + V
|
Paste current clipboard as plain text.

CTRL + ENTER
|
Page break. By pressing Ctrl+Enter, you can
enter a page break where ever you’d like in your document.

CTRL + SHIFT + B/O
|
Open your bookmarks menu (depends on browser)
|
CTRL + SHIFT + N
|
Creates a new folder on your desktop screen or
anywhere on your computer
|
WINDOWS KEY + M
|
Minimize all opened windows.

ALT + UNDERLINED
LETTER
|
Perform corresponding command/shortcut or select
corresponding option

CTRL + B
|
Bold a word or sentence
|
CTRL + I
|
Italic a word or sentence

SHIFT + F3
|
If you find you have typed a sentence or two in
CAPITALS, Highlight all the error and press shifted F3.
The result is now everything in Lowercase. A second press of shifted F3 will capitalize sentence start letters (Title Case.) and a third press takes you back where you started (Capitals.). |
